Javier López Jorge

Born in Santiago de Compostela in 1988, Javier began his studies at the age of eight with Professors Sonia Rohrer, Ofelia Aznaurova, Marina Shamagian and Alexander Gold Makarov. After his graduation with high distinction from his Bachelor's degree in Salamanca (Spain), Javier came to London to do the Master´s degree in Performance at the Royal College of Music with professor Andrew Ball. Supported by a Violet Goodhew Scott Award and a scholarship from Deputación da Coruña in Spain, Javier achieved the high distinction at the end of his Master`s degree. During these two productive years, he has participated in many piano competitions including the Internacional piano competition Donostia Hiria (2nd prize), ASGAIM piano competition in Spain (1st prize) and the “Joan Chissel” Schumann Lied Competition in Royal College of Music (1st prize). 

 

Since 2010 he has a duo with the British tenor William Morgan, giving concerts in UK and Spain and working in masterclasses with Roger Vignoles, Simon Lepper and Andrew Ball.

 

Javier performed at the Internationale Sommerakademie of Universität Mozarteum Salzburg in 2007 and 2008, the “Villa de Baiona” international piano festival in 2006, the International Music Festival in Vallendar (Germany) in 2008 and the course for postgraduated students organized by the “Alcalá de Henares” University in 2010.  He has taken masterclasses at the highest level from performers such as Peter Bithell, Boris Berman, Luiz de Moura, Maria João Pires, Frank Wibaut, Claudio Martínez Mehner, Pavel Gililov, Imre Rohmann and Ferenc Rados among others. He also worked intensively with Spanish composers such as José Luis Turina, Agustí Charles and Ramón Humet.

 

He has performed as a soloist throughout Spain (including Madrid, Salamanca, A Coruña, Santiago de Compostela), and in Germany, the UK, Hungary and Poland.

 

Solo performances include Mozart's Piano Concerto No.12 with conductor Maximino Zumalave and the orchestra of Escuela de Altos Estudios Musicales.   

 

During the last two years, Javier was studying at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in Budapest with Professors Kemenes András, Nagy Péter and Rita Wagner. At the moment is doing a doctoral degree at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in Budapest.
